Since project completion in the spring of 2012, six new downtown businesses opened their doors and two expanded operations to save and create 51 jobs. The city applied for and was awarded a competitive grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture ‘s (USDA) Rural Development (RD) Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) to complete a key component of the Downtown Revitalization and Refinement Plan.

The Circle C Market in Cody, NE is being built with straw bales and mostly volunteer help on July 2, 2012. Start-up funding was provided through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Rural Development Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) and matched with cash, material and sweat equity contributions. The Growing, Revitalizing, Investing and Teaching (GRIT) non-profit organization oversees the progress and works with Cody-Kilgore School to develop the student learning aspect of the project.
