Designing business ID cards is nowadays something really easy to do. Technology advancements have made it possible both for professional and amateur designers to create nice ID cards that look professional and attractive to the eye. In addition, as almost every business organization now has its own ID card system, business owners and managers do not have to rely any longer on third party outsourced professional designers to work on the layout of their employee ID badges.
As it has already been said, designing corporate ID cards is not complex at all. However, there are certain easy rules you should follow in order to make sure that the final result is an ID card that your different staff members are proud to wear and that keeps your business organization protected against unscrupulous individuals.
DO’S OF BUSINESS ID CARD DESIGN
It is always a good idea to keep the design as simple as possible and avoid those layouts that are too complicated and difficult to read. The objective of an ID card is to enable the reader to clearly identify the card holder. This means that your employee’s full name, picture, position and area in which he or she works should be the focus of your ID badge. Then you should add your business organization’s name and logo.
The information incorporated in the ID card needs to be accurate and updated. Needless to say, typos and other mistakes should be avoided. Remember that the ID badge is, many a time, the first thing that somebody knows about your organization and, therefore, you should always make your best effort to give a good first impression.
It is OK to rely on the pre designed card templates that come included in almost every card software program you decide to buy.
DON’T’S OF BUSINESS ID CARD DESIGN
Make your best effort to avoid adding a lot of information to the front of the badge. If you really want to incorporate a lot of data, it is highly advisable that you distribute it on both sides of the card so that the main information can be easily visible.
Unless you are a good photographer, never take your employees’ pictures yourself. It is much better if you can just hire a professional photographer to do it. Your staff members will love it and they will be proud to wear their ID badges.
