DIY in car entertainment system

This is a cheap android tablet hung from the passenger seat in our car, ready to entertain our 3yr old on long trips. Headphones too.
Total cost to install in car was about 50c. The plastic sleeve also protects the tablet from sticky fingers and drinks. We use cable ties looped around the headrest supports to hold it in place.
Battery life is about 3 hours, though we often plug it in to a charger too.
We use VLC player software which shows thumbnails of each movie so she can choose what she wants to watch. She has learned how to play/pause and also drag the playhead to the part of the movie that she wants (or back to the start).
The tablet is a HP Touchpad that cost 0 a few years ago, now running Android.
The headphones are some sennheiser ones that I already had.
Some things are tricky. The volume control is on the top edge of the tablet and Lily finds that hard to use. The headphones sometimes get pulled out of the tablet. The cord for the headphones is really long (about 3m) so after a particularly bad tangle, its now cable tied in a loop and allows about 70cm of length. One side of the headphones no longer works due to chewing! I will repair and then cover with heavy heatshrink.
When she is older, I think she'll be interested in some of the android apps for kids - but not quite yet.
